Testing Program Overview

St. Mark’s Lutheran School participates in the CTB McGraw-Hill Terra Nova 3 standardized testing program. Terra Nova 3 is used in schools across the nation. Grades three through eight are tested each year in five academic areas – reading, language, math, science, and social studies.

Understanding Test Scores

The test scores below are national percentiles, not percentages. A score of 75 does not mean that our students answered 75% of the questions correctly. It means that our students scored above 75% of the students who took the test. For example, if 100 students took the test, a student at the 75th percentile performed better than 75 of the 100 students. The 50th percentile indicates the national average – 50% of the students performed higher and 50% of the students performed lower. Our school’s test scores demonstrate that our students consistently perform 15-20 percentile points above the national average.

Part of a Strong National School System

St. Mark’s is affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), a national church body that operates approximately 350 Christian schools like St. Mark’s. This analysis of WELS achievemnt test results indicates that St. Mark’s is a part of a national school system that effectively serves families with excellence in Christian education.
