Our Student Council works to help make student life at SMLS the best it can be. The Student Council consists of two officers (president and secretary) and four representatives (one from each of grades five through eight). Details about the purpose and function of the Student Council are contained in the Constitution.

Engaged student councils can be the catalyst for change in support of a principal’s vision for a successful school. They have the potential to be the drivers of reform efforts that benefit students; they carry the student voice in critical education conversations, and councils are the primary source for sponsoring student-led activities to improve school climate.
