Tuition Assistance Overview

Families for whom the blessings of Christian education offered at St. Mark’s Lutheran School are out of reach due their financial circumstances may apply for tuition assistance. Tuition grants are awarded based on need. It is understood that even with a tuition grant, reasonable sacrifices may be necessary in order to afford the cost of Christian education at St. Mark’s Lutheran School.

Families considering applying for tuition assistance through our school are encouraged to first explore other sources of financial assistance. There may be relatives who are willing and able to help support the cost of tuition. A family’s home church may have funds it can invest in Christian education for its children as well. Applying for tuition assistance through our school should be the last option considered after all other possible sources of financial assistance have been explored.

St. Mark’s uses FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment Service to process and evaluate all tuition assistance applications. Applications must be completed online at Applicants pay a $30.00 processing fee directly to FACTS.

FACTS gathers financial information (including tax documents and W-2s) from each applicant and provides a detailed assessment to St. Mark’s. The St. Mark’s Tuition Assistance Committee reviews applications and awards tuition grants based on available resources. There is no guarantee that all applicants will receive tuition assistance.

Tuition assistance is only awarded to defray the cost of tuition. Families receiving tuition assistance must pay all other school-related fees including the annual enrollment commitment fee.

Application Process

Follow these steps to apply for tuition assistance for the 2017-2018 school year:

Complete an online tuition assistance application through FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment. Click on Create a FACTS Account to create a new application.
Submit all necessary tax documentation and W-2’s to FACTS by April 15 (deadline applies to returning families). Documents can be mailed to: FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment; P.O. Box 82524; Lincoln, NE 68501-2524. Documents can be faxed to 1-866-315-9264.
The St. Mark’s Tuition Assistance Committee will review the applications and award tuition grants by the end of May. Applications for tuition assistance will not be considered unless IRS documentation is verified by FACTS. Questions regarding the FACTS application process should be directed to FACTS Customer Service at 1-866-315-9262.


Why does St. Mark’s offer tuition assistance?
St. Mark’s desires that all families, regardless of income level or other financial restraints, be able to experience the blessings of Christian education offered at St. Mark’s Lutheran School. St. Mark’s desires that cost not be a prohibitive factor.

Who may apply for tuition assistance?
Families who have been accepted at St. Mark’s Lutheran School and for whom the blessings of Christian education offered at St. Mark’s are out of reach due to financial restraints may apply for tuition assistance. The normal admissions process precedes the tuition assistance application process.

How do I apply for tuition assistance?

Are there any special requirements or obligations for families who receive tuition assistance?
No, all families enrolled at St. Mark’s Lutheran School make the same commitments. All families are encouraged to volunteer their time and play an active role in their children’s education.

What does a tuition grant cover? What does it not cover?
A tuition grant reduces the cost of tuition for one school year. It does not cover the annual enrollment commitment fee or any other school-related fees.

How long does a tuition grant apply?
A tuition grant applies to one school year. Families who desire tuition assistance must apply each year.

Do all applicants receive tuition assistance?
No, there is no guarantee that applicants will be awarded a tuition grant. The $30.00 application fee is not refundable.

What documents must be submitted to FACTS?
Please submit your most recent tax return(s) and W-2(s). If applicable, documentation verifying the following sources of income should also be submitted: Social Security, disability, workers’ compensation, welfare, child support, food stamps and/or TANF.

Where should questions be directed?
Questions about the tuition assistance application process should be directed to FACTS Customer Service at 1-866-315-9262. Questions about the awarding of tuition assistance should be directed to the St. Mark’s principal who will forward them to the Tuition Assistance Committee.

By when must tuition grant applications be submitted?
Tuition grant applications for returning families need to be submitted by April 15. For families new to our school, the application deadline will be extended as needed.
